A Memorable Trip from Kanpur to Jhansi to Attend Marriage Ceremony

It was my friend’s marriage ceremony when I visited Jhansi last time. The accommodation was not an issue because I had to stay at my friend’s place only, but I wanted to have a comfortable journey also.

So, I decided to check online about the various options that I can have. I searched some sites and finally came across a few options that were comfortable also were coming with great discounts.

One of the best options that I got to reach Jhansi from Kanpur was through Rapti Sagar Express (12511). The train left from Kanpur Central at about 1:22 p.m. and reached Jhansi at 4:45 p.m. Though the travel was of short time duration, still I had my tickets booked in AC 2 tier so that I can rest well and I do not look much tired when I get down at Jhansi.

When I got down at Jhansi, I saw my friend’s relative were there at the station to pick me up. We drove for a few kilometers in their car, and finally, we reached our destination where the marriage was about to take place.

The wedding was for threedays, and I was free as I had got my tickets after one more day. So, I decided to explore the city of Jhansi. My friend’s relatives said that one place that can be visited well is the Jhansi Fort and so I decided to have a visit to the fort.

The Jhansi Fort is located on the hilltop of Bangira. It is said that it was the fort of the Chandela kings. It is located at a distance of 3 km from the Jhansi railway station and about 103 km from the nearest airport in Gwalior. The fort is an important heritage in the city and is maintained quite well by the people here.

The fort has the architectural design of North Indian style and has walls made of granite. This depicts about the strength of the fort. There are ten doors or gateways to the fort, and each of them has a special name. Near to the fort is also a Rani Mahal that is now also known as the archaeological museum. The fort stretches at an area of 15 acres, and it stands strong even today.

There are many cultural programs that take place from time to time at the fort. One of the most important events that take place is the Jhansi Mahotsav that takes place in the month of January and February. It is celebrated by music where different eminent singers and artists gather together in the fort to bring in the culture once again.

Though I was there at Jhansi for a marriage ceremony, I also got some time to explore the whole area. One of the most important things that I got to see was the Jhansi Fort. It showed the culture and the heritage that India had and also the strength that they had.
